The Treadmill Tales is a photo and writings project I did between 2018 and 2019 while working full time in a supermarket in Berlin.
Every day I would write little texts on the unused tickets about a feeling I had or an observation that occurred to me, and it would often be about the German culture that I was immersing myself into. At the same time, I started traveling around Germany to visit my new home country, and I would always bring my camera to capture the people I thought represented best German culture, the same way I took pictures of people around the world.
After one year of street photography, I decided to choose 12 pictures, each one representing a month of the year, like in a calendar, and to put them together in a small photo book with some of my notes written at work.
The result is an observation of Germany as if it was an exotic and unexplored land, and a testimony of the time passing by while the subjects seem to be stuck in the same place and position forever.
